Ayala Foundation partners with the Philippine National Police for #MagingMagiting Campaign

Ayala Foundation continues its #MagingMagiting Campaign flag distribution, through a partnership with the Philippine National Police closed in a Memorandum of Agreement signing today, July 8, 2019 at the NHQ-Building in Camp Crame.

This will allow Ayala Foundation and its partners, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), and Chooks-to-Go to place flags in 3,000 police precincts and stations nationwide.

Present at the signing were PNP Chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde, NHCP Chairman Dr. Rene Escalante and Ayala Foundation President Ruel T. Maranan. Also present in the event were Chooks-to-Go President Ronald Mascarinas, one of the campaign partners.

A ceremonial turnover was also done to distribute the initial 2,000 flags to identified police offices and major precincts nationwide.

During his speech, Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan discussed the importance of partnering with key government organizations in pushing the nationalism campaign forward. “Right now is a very good time to renew our commitment to nation-building through a program that reminds us of the greatness of our country and our people.”

He also emphasized the hope of the #MagingMagiting campaign: to change Filipinos’ perspective and bring the country towards betterment in small, significant ways. “We are all under one flag – united as one Filipino country, one Filipino people who desire a better future for our children and better lives for all. Lagi nating tandaan na araw-araw, may pagkakataon tayong #MagingMagiting (everyday, we have the opportunity to be a good Filipino citizen).”

The #MagingMagiting Campaign is an initiative of the Ayala Foundation that aims to rekindle nationalism and pride in being Filipino, through highlighting the Filipino spirit  – one of which is through making sure that the Philippine flag, the national symbol, is well-seen and present in places of service, honor and justice.

The campaign is a response to NHCP’s claim that there is a gap of 100,000 flags across the nation – even though the Republic Act 8491, the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, prescribes that all “public buildings, official residences, public plazas and institutions of learning” should display the Philippine flag throughout the year.

#MagingMagiting Campaign aims to fill the gap through distributing 10,000 flags to public elementary schools, police precincts, and military installations,  to kick off a national movement that recognizes the value of the Philippine flag and takes pride in our country’s strengths.

To date, the #MagingMagiting has distributed close to 5,000 flags to public elementary schools in eight geographic regions – NCR, Region III, Region IV-A, Region VI, Region IX, Region XI and CARAGA Region. It hopes to continue by distributing flags to all 17 Philippine regions by 2019.
