34 Women Scholars Complete Career Development Training with SC Johnson Volunteers

A total of 34 women college students completed a career development seminar to help improve their employability as they prepare to join the labor force.
Held on February 17 and 24, the training program was designed to assist third- and fourth-year scholars in navigating the challenges of job searching and career readiness.
Volunteers from SC Johnson facilitated the sessions, telling stories and giving practical advice to the participants who are recipients of Ayala Foundation’s U-Go scholar grant

The sessions tackled topics such as resume writing, common interview questions, and employment contracts

“The experience of sharing career advice with scholars strengthened my belief in the power of knowledge-sharing and mentorship. It was truly a fulfilling privilege to be able to play a role in shaping the country’s generation of nation-builders,” said Erick Lingao, a program volunteer.

Bernice Mae Aaron, a third-year Library and Information Science Major says the training made her feel “more empowered and confident to take on job interviews and create CVs that will highlight my strengths,” and that she hopes to “apply to companies that give me opportunities to develop, as well as resonates my values.”

Participants taking business, education, engineering, and science courses joined the seminar

Additionally, SC Johnson has supported the U-Go scholar grant by providing funding for 20 ambitious yet underprivileged Filipinas enrolled in public universities.

As part of their scholarship, U-Go scholar grant recipients are given access to learning opportunities to help ensure their long-term personal success

SC Johnson has been in the Philippines over six decades, locally known for brands such as Baygon®, Glade®, Off ®. With the belief that a positive impact should be made in communities around the world where they operate, SC Johnson is proud of this new partnership, established in 2023, which is enabling opportunities to create pathways for greater social mobility for under-served communities, especially women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) fields. Access to quality education is essential for the next generation and as a family company at work for a better world, SC Johnson is glad to be able to support that.
