Ayala group provides 7,900 food packs for families affected by ‘Pepito,’ ‘Quinta’

The Ayala group of companies came together in support of communities severely affected by typhoons Pepito and Quinta, which slammed communities many communities in Luzon.

A total of 7,900 food packs were mobilized over three days of relief operations, which helped tide over the food needs of over 5,300 families. Ayala Foundation, Ayala’s social development arm, helps coordinate the group’s disaster relief and rehabilitation initiatives, under the banner Project Pananagutan.

On October 21, the Ayala group sent 1,400 emergency water and food packs, through the help of Manila Water Foundation, serving as the first wave of its support for Quezon residents. On October 24, 3,500 packs and 1,500 protective face masks were brought by the Ayala Foundation team to Quezon residents. With the help of the Ayala Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the group distributed 3,000 rice packs at the height of Typhoon Quinta on October 26. For its part, Globe Telecom providing connectivity support to be used by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office. 

The support for Quezon communities was ceremonially turned over by Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan to Quezon Province Governor Danilo Suarez and Vice Governor Samuel Nantes. Also present to show support was Ayala Multi-Purpose Cooperative General Manager Dina Orosa.

Said Gov. Suarez: “In behalf of my province, the province of Quezon, kami ay nagpapasalamat ng buong-puso sa napakagandang programa at tulong na ibinibigay sa amin ng Ayala Foundation. Kami’y nagagalak na big corporations like this, hindi nakakalimot sa kanilang mga nahihirapang kababayan sa pamamagitan ng pagtulong na ito. At sana’y, ito na rin ang panawagan namin doon sa iba na ring may korporasyon na maayos naman ang kalagayan sa mga panahong ito na maraming nangangailangan, sana ay maging generous sila sa pagtulong.”

“In behalf of our 37,000-plus members, the Ayala Coop is always there to help and support undertakings or projects of the Ayala group, [especially] when it comes to community service,” Orosa said.

Said Maranan: “Kami po sa Ayala group of companies ay nakikiisa sa lahay ng naapektuhan nitong nakaraang bagyo. Sana po lahat kayo ay maging matatag at asahan niyo na kami sa Ayala group of companies ay naririto at handang makiisa sa inyo, at sama-sama po tayo na harapin itong pagsubok na ito. Kaya maging matatag lamang at lahat po tayo ay sana’y maging magiting sa isip, sa salita, at sa gawa.”
