Following the devastation brought by Tropical Storm “Maring” to northern Luzon, the Ayala group mobilized a series of relief operations in the Ilocos and Cagayan Valley regions. Under the #BrigadangAyala initiative, the conglomerate, with Ayala Foundation as lead, distributed food packs for more than 2,750 families in Cagayan, Benguet, and La Union.

For the first wave of relief efforts, the #BrigadangAyala team provided food assistance for families in the towns of Lasam, Gonzaga, Pamplona, Lal-lo, Baggao, and Buguey. Aside from 1,000 food packs delivered by the Ayala group through Ayala Foundation, BPI Foundation also provided 250 additional food packs for affected families, while Globe Telecom shared 514 bags of fortified rice.

The relief packs for the coastal town of Pamplona were allocated for the indigenous Aeta community as well as families with elderly members. For the towns of Lassam and Gonzaga, #BrigadangAyala relief efforts were conducted with the assistance of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao and Bishop Ricardo Baccay.

The second wave of #BrigadangAyala relief efforts was conducted in Benguet and La Union, with the distribution of 1,500 food packs and other essential items. In La Trinidad, Benguet, BPI Foundation and Ayala Foundation led the distribution of food and hygiene kits for 260 farming families who had lost much of their crops as a result of the tropical storm.

Meanwhile, in La Union, Ayala Foundation, AC Energy, and BPI Foundation led the distribution of food relief for affected families in five barangays from the municipalities of Bacnotan, Luna, and San Juan. At least 1,000 food packs were delivered to La Union families, with additional washable face masks, clothings, and bags.

For both waves of relief operations, the Makati Development Corporation, an Ayala Land subsidiary, provided logistical support.

“Providing timely relief for families and communities devastated by calamities is an important first step toward recovery and building resilience in the face of natural and manmade calamities,” said Ruel Maranan, president of Ayala Foundation. “The Ayala group remains committed to working together for the greater good, not only through business, but also through our community initiatives under the #BrigadangAyala banner.”
