Ayala completes Pampanga earthquake relief efforts

The Ayala group and its partners have completed a series of relief activities in different parts of the Pampanga, as part of its commitment to helping families severely affected by the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the province on April 22.

To officially close out its two-month relief activities in the province, Ayala officials, led by Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan, made a courtesy visit to outgoing House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and outgoing Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda on June 29 in San Fernando, Pampanga.

During the courtesy call, Maranan formally informed Speaker Arroyo and Governor Pineda about the completion of the delivery of construction materials for affected families. Maranan also reported the completion of the distribution of relief goods in several parts of the province.

The construction materials—composed of plywood and galvanized iron sheets—were delivered in full in May. The Pampanga Provincial Engineers’ Office supervises the distribution of the kits for qualified families.

Ayala has conducted at least outreach activities from April to June for affected communities. The first activity was held on April 26 in Floridablanca, Pampanga, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, Clark Water, and the Apl.de.Ap Foundation, and reached 800 Aeta families. The second relief activity was held on May 4 in Porac, Pampanga, in partnership with Project Malasakit led by broadcast journalist Kara David, and reached 300 Aeta families.

Another outreach activity was held in Porac, Pampanga on June 29, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, Clark Water, Apl.de.Ap Foundation, Project Malasakit, and local partners. The activity served at least 500 affected families.

“Ayala believes in sustained efforts to help improve lives,” says Maranan. “Our initiatives in earthquake-affected areas in Pampanga reflect our commitment to building resilient communities.”
